Nice looking game. Some pointers I have.
- The pacing could be improved. I had to play for a relatively long time with only a basic weapon until I got a new, better one
- When you hit enemies / enemies hit you, there should be some visual feedback. Currently there is only a screenshake which occurs when you or the enemy is hit, and there is no clear indication which one happened. The feedback could be just a flash on the target ship or something
- The shotgun-powerup seemed to have the same sound effect as when you get hit, so it felt like I was shooting myself
- There was a 30 second period at one point with no enemies (going back to the pacing)
Really nice theme though, and really nice work on the sprites and animations! :)
